It’s been a few too many years since I’ve fundraised for a great cause like SB250. But I’m here to humbly ask for your help to raise funds to give to the community of the children who are living with Spina Bifida.
Nearly 20 years ago I met Casey and Jackie Swanson via mutual friends at South Padre Island. I distinctly remember Jackie driving Casey and his bike from South Padre Island to Port Isabel on Sunday mornings so he could ride home. I. Was. Shocked. I remember wondering why in the world would someone ride their bike that far?? As time went on and I learned of Casey’s why (his daughter Suzannah) and how it prepared him for SB250 it all made sense.
Fast forward many years and in 2017 I took the plunge to fundraise and train for this very cause. It’s 2 days of an unforgettable and indescribable experience to say the very least!
My memories of the 2 days spent in the heat of the summer of 2017 is my why for doing it again. From the new friends made, the struggles faced and conquered, and to the finish line like no other is my Why. I may have trained and fundraised for SB but I absolutely still have the easier path than the kids I was privileged to meet at the finish line.
There have been some distinct moments in my life that have impacted me in a major way and this was one of them. I knew I would do this ride again and here I am in 2024 deep in the heat of training and now kicking off my fundraising for the families impacted by Spina Bifida.
I hope that everyone reading this page can find it in their heart to give towards this cause- no donation is too small.
Our goal is to build awareness, support families through SB Texas, give college scholarships, buy necessary medical equipment, create memories for the SB families by riding bikes in honor of them. We can't do any of this without donors, so please consider a donation to help us live out our mission of removing barriers for those impacted by spina bifida.
